The second edition of the New York Underground Film Series pays tribute to the collaborative and transgressive NO WAVE CINEMA movement, characterised by its ‘Do it Yourself’ philosophy. Vivienne Dick explores various forms of female trauma inflicted by a society that imposes sexism as the norm. The cast features actresses who regularly appear in the director’s films and in the no wave movement in general, such as Lydia Lunch, Adele Bertei, Beate Nilsen and Liz Swope. Also appearing are the French poet and performer Lizzie Mercier Descloux and the opera singer-turned-post-punk musician Klaus Nomi.
