With a screenplay by Glenn O’Brien, the mastermind behind the legendary TV Party, Edo Bertoglio’s camera follows a painter – Basquiat playing himself – through the streets of downtown New York, chronicling his daily life.
Filmed between 1980 and 1981, it was completed and released in 2000, immediately becoming the definitive audiovisual testament to an era.
ESPAICINEMA. The second edition of the New York Underground Film Series pays tribute to the collaborative and transgressive NO WAVE CINEMA movement, characterised by its ‘Do it Yourself’ philosophy. The series is curated by Rafa Cervera. Following the screening of the film, there will be a discussion moderated by the multidisciplinary artist Carlos Bonet. Time: 20:00h.
