Tercerunquinto Other Consciences

Tercerunquinto Art Collective (Julio Castro, 1976, Gabriel Cázares, 1978, Rolando Flores, 1975) was formed in Monterrey, Mexico in 1998. Since then, the collective has developed projects that affect public and private spaces, questioning the limits between both, disarticulating the elements that make up these systems and disassembling the logical order of their interrelationships. It has also sought to challenge the borders organized around the constitution of a system, be it architectonic or urban, tracing their implications and effects in personal, social, cultural or political orders.

The exhibition proposal for the Espai d’art contemporani de Castelló Other Consciences  consists of a selection of works previously made, showing the part of their work that deals with certain dynamics in which the solution of the work extends to other agents. By agents we refer to people, audience, institutions, etc and to a project specifically conceived for the EACC that functions as approach or preface of this exhibition proposal. On the other hand, the project in situ that the collective will carry out in the city of Castellón, will incorporate the type of dynamics that postulates the exhibition project.

The presentation in the exhibition space of the selection of work will be accompanied by a project that the collective has specifically conceived for this exhibition. This project consists of inviting three curators so that they conceptualize the documentation of three of the works that will be exhibited in the exhibition, which will act as a second edition.

The intention is that by means of their ideas each one of the curators participating define, formal and aesthetically, a work by Tercerunquinto as the concept of documentation in art and editions (or versions) in the commercial field of the same is questioned.

The aim would be showing in the same time and space the variations or questions that they produce regarding the documents that the collective defined for the first editions.

As a collective, they have worked and investigated the intersections between the creative production processes, analyzing the way in which these have been exhibited and the negotiations carried out with the different agents. It would not consist of “endorsing” the concept of work but rather its process or a part of it. Sliding a part of the work to other participations. In this sense, the project Other Consciences would incorporate these kind of dynamics.
