The Espai d’Art Contemporani in Castelló presents a solo exhibition by the visual artist María María Acha-Kutscher.
Drawing on drawing and photographic collage, the artist creates extensive archives that become instruments of political struggle, as well as testimonies and demands of contemporary feminist movements.
The exhibition, whose title alludes to the light that symbolises feminism and colours women’s historical memory, focuses on five long-term projects that explore different artistic languages and have never before been exhibited together.
These works take the form of images—some of which were produced specifically for the EACC—which are in turn organised into series:
Womankind, Llapanchik, Reimagining Aging, Indignadas and Herstorymuseum.
The works engage in a dialogue with one another to reflect on the female condition, women’s collective memory and their life experiences, such as ageing, relationships with men and their stance on humanity’s major conflicts.
